A native Farsi and Dari speaker, also fluent in German, he has 15 years' experience as a translator, interpreter, linguist and lecturer. Having passed the DPSI in Farsi/English Law in 2007, he is now an examiner, setter and marker for the exam. A CIOL member since 2008, Dr Navaei sits on both the Applications and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI), and is a member of Council. His PhD is in English Language and Literature. Alireza Hassani Alireza Hassani, also known as Alireza Abiz, has worked as a translator and interpreter since 1993, and has also been a lecturer in translation at universities in Iran. He is a widely-published poet and essayist, and his poetry has been translated from his native Farsi into English, German and Arabic. A translator and interpreter for the Iranian Judiciary, Dr Hassani is a member of the Iranian Society of Official Translators and of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (Australia). He has an MA in English Language and Literature from Tehran University and a PhD in Creative Writing from Newcastle. Keith Moffitt Keith Moffitt is a long-standing CIOL member who has been involved at divisional and Council level for many years. He chaired Council from 2012 to 2016, and previously served as Vice-Chair and Treasurer, and as Chair of the Editorial Board of The Linguist. Over the past four years, he has served (ex officio) on a number of committees and boards, and has overseen a period of significant change, including the relaunch of the Chartered Linguist scheme and preparations for the new membership pathway. He has been active in representing the Institute, including engaging with the campaign for quality standards in interpreting in the criminal justice system via the umbrella group PI4J.
