'POETRY
TRANSLATION:
LOST, FOUND AND
TD
CREATED'
Friday 31 January
Brunei Gallery, SOAS
Led by Cynthia Stephens,
this interactive evening
will look at English
versions of poems by
Jorge Luis Borges. You
do not need to have
Spanish to attend, as
participants will primarily
use published English
translations and will work
together to create new
English translations.
Which of these
translations are best and
why? What is lost, what
is found, and what is
created? Rhythm,
concepts, images,
symbols, sound, grammar
and vocabulary will all
come under our gaze.
Our object will be to
create new poems that
are also translations of the
great originals in Spanish.

Street, Russell Square,
